AMANAH Youth today filed an official complaint with the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) over graft allegations pertaining to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s offers of Cabinet posts and GLC chairmanship to members of parliament in return for support.
The report was filed at about noon today by AMANAH Youth deputy chief Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin, accompanied by Bersatu Youth (ARMADA) executive committee member (religious affairs) Abu Hafiz Salleh Hudin and DAP Youth chief Howard Lee at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
“This is to do with a voice recording alleged to be that of Muhyiddin, from a Bersatu supreme council meeting, in which the Prime Minister is alleged to have planned to offer Cabinet posts and chairmenship of government-linked companies (GLCs) to Umno members of parliament in exchange for support,” said Shazni.
“As yet, no individual offered such posts have come forward to report any wrongdoing,” he added.
However, Abu Hafiz had reiterated the need for Muhyiddin to respond to allegations as there were obvious corresponding actions that tally with the planned offers as stated in the recording.
Muhyiddin’s Perikatan Nasional Cabinet features 70 ministers and deputy ministers and three special envoys with ministers’ status, along with 31 other political appointments to GLCs.
UMNO deputy president Mohamad Hassan and Simpang Renggam member of parliament Maszlee Malik are thus far the only ones to have rejected offers of posts in GLCs from Muhyiddin.
