SERIAN member of parliament Richard Riot Jaem must have been so elated by news of his appointment as the Prime Minister’s special envoy to East Asia (Japan, South Korea and Taiwan) with minister’s status, that he couldn’t help but post a thank you poster yesterday to the Prime Minister for his appointment.
Using the template and literature usually reserved for congratulatory notes, the former Human Resource Minister under the Najib Razak administration began by stating his gratitude towards Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
Riot, who is also deputy president of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), a component of the Gabungan Party Sarawak (GPS), went on to thank chief minister Abang Johari Tun Openg and SUPP president Dr Sim Kui Hian for their support.
“I am confident and believe that my vast experience as a former Human Resource Minister and deputy minister of Foreign Affairs, I will be able to carry out the duties entrusted in me successfully,” said Riot in his posting.
Riot is the third ministerial envoy appointed to Muhyiddin’s cabinet after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (Middle East) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Tiong King Sing (China).
The next addition to Muhyiddin’s cabinet is as yet unknown, although signs are Riot isn’t the final MP to be granted a position.
However, Riot’s unique poster has been getting quite some traction over social media as netizens debate both its content and presentation.
