JUST as Putrajaya was rocked by the first Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) swoop on the Perikatan Nasional government’s Covid 19 crisis procurement dealings yesterday, an UMNO veteran has come forward with a damning allegation of a minister’s hand in it.

Zaharin Mohd Yasin, a vocal pro-UMNO blogger and veteran party member, yesterday wrote this on his Facebook page:

“Heard from a minister’s officer: ‘I did it for the Boss.’ What morals are the basis for corruption to happen at a Ministry under the orders of its Minister. This Minister’s special officer is just so arrogant.

Apparently it also involves several UMNO division leaders. They only know how to steal.”

Allegations that the MACC had hauled up 5 individuals in relation to a RM30 million contract to supply mass testing laboratory systems to a ministry upon opening investigations yesterday began to spread like wildfire.

The five alleged individuals were allegedly officers and linked to a minister and his ministry, as well as his political party.

In a subsequent posting, Zaharin also warned Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to not try to obstruct MACC’s investigations and not to protect the minister at the network of officers involved.

Although the MACC have yet to name the ministry involved, Health Minister Adham Baba yesterday announced that he had pledged the Health Ministry’s full cooperation to the anti-graft agency’s investigations into the case.
